Order picking

Order picking is one of the most important fulfilment tasks for webshops. We ensure that all orders are put together accurately and efficiently. The products are weighed, carefully checked, sustainably packed and prepared for shipping.

Thanks to our AutoStore, order picking is very efficient. This system is a framework of plastic bins in which products are stored efficiently, safely and dust free. Smart robots drive across the framework. Once the orders come in, the robots collect the right bins and bring them to the order pickers. They can easily pick the right products from the bins, after which the orders are taken to the packing machines at lightning speed. For non-fragile items, Active Ants is also working with an AI-powered picking robot for even higher efficiency.

This is how order picking goes at Active Ants:

  1. Items with a barcode are scanned. For items without a barcode, the storage location is scanned;
  2. All orders are then weighed. Here, the actual weight should match the expected weight;
  3. During weighing, a picture, the Basketpic, is taken of the box in which the order is collected. This picture is e-mailed directly to the consumer;
  4. The order is completed and ready for shipment.

Because you can access and download the online picking reports at any time, you stay informed about the status of the order throughout the picking process. Thanks to the intelligent AutoStore system and multiple checks, virtually no mistakes are made during order picking. Moreover, we offer contractual guarantees on possible picking errors (via our Service Level Agreement).
